Electric Vehicles: Electricity network modelling, EV considerations and initial results
The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) will pose significant technical and economic challenges on the power grid, particularly on the very infrastructure they are connected to: the electricity distribution network.
These networks have been traditionally designed to have no or limited controllability and, hence, have been largely unmonitored. They will become the bottlenecks and therefore understanding how to best integrate EVs is critical to facilitate the electrification of our transport.
This webinar will present the distribution networks selected and modelled in collaboration with these distribution companies. It will also present the different EV-related considerations necessary to run detailed time-series power flow simulations and assess the corresponding network impacts.
Initial impact assessment results will also be presented.
This webinar is part of the 2 year collaborative project on ‘EV integration into the electricity grid’ between Energy Networks Australia (ENA), the Australian Power Institute (API), the Centre for New Energy Technologies (C4NET), and The University of Melbourne, as part of the ENA and API’s Australian Strategic Technology Program.
